Asclepias tuberosa
Striking bright orange flowers in late summer. Likes full sun, dry and infertile soils. Can be slow to establish and late to come up in spring. Has a taproot which makes division very difficult. Grows best in sand. Particularly attractive to butterflies, larger bees, and hummingbirds. Can act as a host plant for monarch larvae.
